Strong Internal Communications Can Bring Major Benefits

Internal communications are critical for essentially all businesses with more than one employee. In a world with many modes of communication, how does your company keep in touch? We’ve compiled five great ways that your company can take advantage of today’s tools to help your employees stay connected to one another and promote a laser focus on common goals.

A Social Intranet
A company intranet set up correctly is a unified way of connecting your staff to your internal information resources. You can think of it as a portal which connects your employees to just about anything that they need access to during the workday. This includes links to commonly needed online resources, information assets, and any important contact information for personnel or services. Instant Messaging
Many organizations have come to the realization that most internal email can be more quickly and efficiently handled than using email. In cases like this, instant messaging helps your team quickly communicate and avoid an overstuffed email inbox. Internal Blogs and Documentation
It’s important to establish a knowledge-capturing and -sharing culture where your staff is continuously documenting and distributing the core knowledge needed to run the company. Some companies have internal blogs available through their intranet solutions that explain certain concepts more in-depth so they are available to other staff when needed. The same can be said for documentation regarding more complex procedures, typically contained within Operations Playbooks or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Let’s say that your company experiences technology issues that your employees don’t know how to fix.
